Hello! I am Francisca Olivares, the founder of Olivares Family Child Care Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because my family and I have always loved working with kids. I have 30 years of experience working with young children and continue taking classes for my professional development.

Me inspiró para comenzar mi propio programa porque a mi familia y a mí siempre nos ha encantado trabajar con niños. Tengo 30 años de experiencia trabajando con niños pequeños y continúo tomando clases para mi desarrollo profesional.

Philosophy

My child care philosophy involves the art of educating with love, respect, honesty, loyalty and understanding. My goal is to help children feel loved, be confident in themselves, and feel motivated so that their self-esteem grows more and more and they can feel joyful every day. I want all children in my program to learn humility: that they are no more than anyone but no less than anyone; that they are unique, wonderful and intelligent, and that there is no one like them in the world.

I believe in teaching young ones that something very important is respect for others - that we should not care about their age, their nationality, the color of their skin, their physical abilities or their religion. I want them to learn that no person is worth more or less for what they have or don’t have. I encourage children to share their knowledge, gifts, good qualities (and toys!) with one another. My mission is to help children feel free and independent with a strong base of love and respect.

Para mi filosofía es el arte de educar con amor, respeto, honestidad, lealtad y comprensión. Es el ayudar a los niños a sentirse amados, es ayudarles a que tengan confianza en ellos mismos, motivarlos para que su autoestima crezca cada día mas y puedan tener una felicidad plena. Hacerlos entender que ellos no son más que nadie pero no menos que nadie, que son personitas únicas, maravillosas e inteligentes, que en el mundo no existe ninguno como ellos.

Enseñarles que algo muy importante es el respeto por los demás, que no nos debe importar su edad, su nacionalidad, el color de su piel, su física o su religión que ninguna persona vale por lo que tiene o por la deja de tener. Enseñarles a compartir sus conocimientos, sus dones, sus buenas cualidades, sus juguetes y de ser necesario su comida con los demás. Mi misión es crear niños libres y independientes, que su base sea el amor y el respeto.

Location

You can find my family home in a quiet, charming street in the Pasadena community. Olivares Family Child Care Wonderschool is a short walk from Jefferson Park and Jefferson Elementary School. We are also walking distance to Pasadena City College and Caltech University. There are many beautiful homes and thriving businesses in my neighborhood.

With regard to our indoor place space, we’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. We plan a variety of indoor and outdoor activities throughout the day, and also give children the freedom to follow their own interests in dramatic play, arts and crafts, reading, gardening and more.

Children will have some outdoor time every day in my spacious, organized backyard. I believe that connecting with nature is very important to a child’s happiness and growth.

At Olivares Family Child Care Wonderschool, I want to provide a loving home away from home.

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application. Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
