Our Teachers

Hello! I am Delmy Mikelly, the founder of Mikelly Family Child Care Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I love working with children and used to volunteer at a HeadStart preschool. I have over 20 years of experience working with children of all ages and am a proud parent myself. I enjoy serving my community and look forward to meeting new families in and around my neighborhood.

Philosophy

My child care philosophy involves the art of educating with love, respect, honesty, loyalty and understanding; it is to help children feel loved and it is to help them have confidence in themselves. I aim to motivate children so that their self-esteem grows more and more every day and they can have full happiness.

My goal is to help children understand that they are no more than anyone but no less, that they are unique in their entirety, and that there is nobody else like them in the world. I also want to teach my students that something very important is respect for others regardless of their age, their nationality, the color of their skin, their physique or their religion. I want to teach them to share their knowledge, gifts, qualities, toys, and food with others. My mission is to help shape free, independent children whose base is a strong foundation of love and respect.

Para mi la filosifía es el arte de educar con amor, respeto, honestidad, lealtad y comprensión; es el ayudar a los niños a sentirse amados, es ayudarlos a que tengan confianza en ellos mismos. Quiero motivarlos para que su autoestima crezca cada día más y puedan tener una felicidad plena.

Mi meta es apoyarles a entender que ellos no son más que nadie pero no menos, que son personitas únicas, en todo su totalidad, que en el mundo no existe ninguno como ellos. También quiero enseñarles que algo muy importante es el respeto por los demás, que no nos debe de importar su edad, su nacionalidad, el color de su piel, su físico o su religión. Quiero enseñarles a compartir sus conocimientos, sus dones, sus cualidades, sus juguetes, y su comida con los demás. Mi misión es apoyar a formar niños libres y independientes, que sú base sea fuerte con el amor y respeto.

Location

Mikelly Family Child Care Wonderschool is located in a welcoming, spacious single family home in the Pasadena neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include a reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), and block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving).

Children will spend plenty of time outdoors in my private yard filled with plenty of activities. Children need space to run, jump, and move!

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application. Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
