Our Teachers

Hello! I am Yolanda Valenzuela, the founder of Valenzuela Family Child Care Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I have 15 years of experience working with young children.

I have two kids of my own and four grandkids. Prior to starting my program, I worked at another in-home child care program for a few years and loved this experience. Some of my favorite parts of the day include arts & crafts, cooking delicious recipes, and even little things like changing diapers and combing children’s hair. I enjoy running my program because I love kids and want to provide a warm and loving home for them.

My 30-year-old daughter who has a background in education helps with my program full-time as well. We are truly a family-run child care program!

Philosophy

At Valenzuela Family Child Care Wonderschool, we believe that safety and providing loving care and attention and of the utmost importance for running a high-quality child care program. An aspect that is unique to my program is that all of our food is healthy, home-made and delicious. I love cooking warm meals for children, from chicken soup to lentils and a variety of nutritious snacks. Children in my program feel like family to me.

I believe in having open communication with parents so that they know what happens throughout the week and they always feel comfortable leaving their children in my care. I think it’s important that children learn how to be kind and share, so I teach these values in my program. I love reading with children and helping them develop their communication skills. I strive to give families confidence that they are in a good home with strong values and plenty of educational activities.

My goal is for all children to feel happy, loved and safe.

Location

Valenzuela Family Child Care Wonderschool is located in a welcoming, warm single family home in the Panorama City neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include a block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving), dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), and manipulatives and math area (for fine motor skills and beginning math concepts).

Children will have some outdoor time every day in my backyard. Children need space to run, jump, and move!

At Valenzuela Family Child Care Wonderschool, I want to provide a loving home away from home.
