Our Teachers

Karine Alebyan

Director and Head Teacher, K&E Child Care

Karine holds a Master’s degree in Russian Language and Literature and has taken over 35 units of Child Development coursework. For more than 20 years, she worked in Early Education Centers in the Los Angeles Unified School District where she taught preschool-aged children.

Karine was inspired to start her own program after seeing a need for high-quality child care in her community. She created a program that provides a safe and nurturing environment for children to explore their surroundings. The program is enriched with the formative value of a comprehensive, research-based curriculum designed to help children become creative and critical thinkers.

Karine’s two grown children are also experienced in the field of child development and serve as Teacher Assistants at K&E Child Care. As the saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child! The Alebyan Family is up to the task.

Testimonials

“THANK YOU! Bringing your child into a new environment is always something you have to think about very thoroughly. I’m a very picky mom & when I stepped into Ms. Karine’s facility I was super happy!!! They are VERY CLEAN, ORGANIZED, UP TO DATE WITH ALL TOYS, GAMES, ETC. They cook HOMEMADE meals and provide the best for my child. Their backyard area is super cute, with lots of toys and activities and again, very clean.

Ms. Karine and her daughter are both previous teachers from LAUSD and have been working in the field for many years and have the experience with kids. They are great with the kids and love them like no other. Always doing fun activities with the children. My child loves this place and I couldn’t be more happier!” - Stella

“LOVE LOVE LOVE! Beautiful environment, clean everything is up to date. Ms. Karine has been in the early child education field for many many years so she is a professional. The kids never go home hungry. The backyard playground is super fun also. Always fed, diapers changed. The kids love it here, when its time to go home its a battle. We love it!” - Elizabeth

“I am so glad we began taking my younger brother here! My mom has been so happy ever since we have finally found the right daycare for him. She especially loves how he is always fed when he comes home! They are very fun and friendly with the kids, not to mention how clean all of their play areas and backyard is. Every time we go to pick him up, we see how all of the kids love playing and don’t even want to go home. He has only been there for 7 months and already knows many educational songs and has learned a lot of new things. We appreciate all of the time and effort they put into him because we have seen first hand how fast he has grown and developed ever since we began to bring him here. Thank you to K & E childcare!” - H.H.

“It’s hard as a parent to leave your baby in someone else care. The thought of it is scary. My son was with another daycare before we switch and put him with Ms. Karine. I needed to find a new care closer to home since my new job is now closer to home. Before visiting this daycare, we already visit about 4 around the area, and didn’t like any of it . Ms. Karine was nice enough to let us go visit her center on the weekend which was very helpful. Her center is clean and we love her out door playground. It was very clean and nice and our son loves it since he love to be outside. She is very kind, patient and you can tell she love kids. She care for them as they are her own. My son is now 18 months and has been in Ms. Karine care for over 3 months now and I feel at ease to know that he’s being taken good care of. He’s attached to her and  put out his arm to go to her every morning when I drop him off.  I pick him up fully fed and happy. I’m so happy that we have found this daycare. It’s truly a blessing.” - Lisa

“Providing a loving and caring environment for children. Very clean and nice place for kids to spend a full day or after school. The teacher, Ms.Karine, is a former lausd teacher of 15 years. She is more than capable of handling a classroom. Very nice people.” - Hovo

Philosophy

At K&E Child Care, our mission is to help our students build their best selves. We believe that by providing a safe and engaging space for young people to explore their strengths and curiosities and learn from each other, they can develop the character skills and love for learning they need to thrive in school and in life.

We are a trilingual program. This means we use English, Armenian, and Russian throughout the school day. Young children are at a “critical period” when it comes to language learning; they are uniquely primed to learn language. Learning a second and even third language strengthens children’s cognitive skills in addition to preparing them for a future in an increasingly globalized world.

Our educational philosophy is inspired by The Creative Curriculum, a comprehensive research-based curriculum designed specifically for family child care settings. Our approach uses child-led exploration and discovery to instill confidence in our students, encourage them to be creative, and help them think critically about the world around them. We focus on providing nurturing, intentional, and responsive experiences that are individualized for each child in our program.

Our goal is for children to feel loved, safe, and at home in our home. We are passionate about what we do, and we can’t wait to welcome your family to our school community.

Location

K&E Child Care is located in a bright and welcoming single family home in the Wonderblock neighborhood.

We’ve expertly designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving), dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), manipulatives and math area (for fine motor skills and beginning math concepts), reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), art area (for expressing emotions and ideas), and music and movement area (for physical activity and cultural learning).

Children will have some outdoor time every day in our private yard or another nearby outdoor space. Children need space to run, jump, and move!

At K&E Child Care, we want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.

About our program

While most of our program is taught in English, we are happy to be able to infuse Russian and Armenian vocabulary and culture into our curriculum. Research has shown that learning a second language at a young age encourages your child’s intellectual and social development. We embrace a multicultural curriculum to encourage children to imagine a world larger than their own and prepare them to excel in an increasingly diverse and interconnected world.
