Our Teachers

Hello! I am Agustina Talamantes, the founder of Tina’s Family Child Care Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because it has always been my dream to design my own space where children can blossom and grow. I have over 15 years of experience working with young children as a licensed child care provider, and previously spent many years taking care of my younger family members. I have always loved working with kids.

Below is a picture of me and my husband with our wonderful grandchildren. We have five grown kids, including my son Manuel who assists with my program every day. Manuel and I are both taking classes together to obtain our Associate’s degrees in Child Development.

Some of my favorite things to do include cooking, outdoor free play with the children, and singing and dancing. We are blessed to get to do what we love every day running our in-home child care program.

Philosophy

At Tina’s Family Child Care Wonderschool, we want children to feel like this is their second home. We do everything we can to make all of our little ones feel welcome here, and work closely with parents to provide a solid educational foundation for each child. My mission is to instill confidence and stability for children to develop their self-esteem and independence.

We currently implement the Creative Curriculum with monthly themes such as “Animals and Insects” in March, “Community Helpers” in June and “Science and Discovery” in August. Our daily routine includes small group activities, the development of fine motor skills, and music and movement. Parents always see a positive difference in their child after they are enrolled in our program!

Location

Tina’s Family Child Care Wonderschool is located in a welcoming, beautiful single family home in the Lincoln Heights neighborhood. Many of the parents of children enrolled in our program work around Downtown LA and commute from Highland Park, Pasadena, Chinatown, or Alhambra because our program is centrally located and easily accessible from the 5, 10 and 110 freeways. We live walking distance to the Lincoln Heights Branch Library and we’re a short drive from USC Medical Center, Elysian Park, and Dodger Stadium.

Children will have some outdoor time every day in our private front yard and backyard area. Weather permitting, some of our outdoor activities include playing with sand and water tables, riding tricycles, and climbing on our safe play equipment. We believe that connecting with nature lets children gain deeper knowledge of themselves and the world. At Tina’s Family Child Care Wonderschool, we want to provide an enriching environment where children feel free to explore and play.

Come see what makes Tina’s Family Child Care Wonderschool unique. If we are currently hosting tours, you can request or schedule a tour at the top of this page. If we are not currently hosting tours, you’ll see a “Request Info” button at the top of this page; if you submit your information using this button, we will notify you when we start host tours again in the future.

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application – note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
