Our Teachers

Hello! I am Ana Lara, the founder of Lara Family Child Care. I have obtained my Associate Teacher Certificate and have over 20 years of experience in early childhood education. I am proud to offer quality care and I continuously attend trainings of KCET, Child Care Provider training given by the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE); and Child Development units facilitated by the University of California Davis (UC-Davis) and East Los Angeles Community College (ELAC). Such trainings include language, literacy, science, dramatization, music, and arts & crafts for infants, toddlers, school-age children, and adults.

I invite parents and especially your son/daughter to come and get to know my family child care environment before I start working with your child. I look forward to meeting you!

Philosophy

My goal is to create a healthy, safe and fun environment to foster learning, self-expression, motivation, positive self-image, self-esteem, development, friendships between children of other cultures and customs in order to support educational readiness while in my care. Lara Family Child Care engages children of all ages and learning abilities through a daily educational plan that includes reading, writing, math, dramatic play, music, art.

Activities

Activities for the development of infants, toddlers, and school-aged children are provided inside and outside according to the weather. All activities are intended to help your child develop, and they include:

  • Social-emotional Development: The ability to identify and understand one’s own feelings. Develop empathy for others and establish and maintain relationships with adults, peers and identity of self in relation to others.
  • Language Development: Language comprehension, responsiveness to language, communication of needs, feelings, interests and reciprocal communication.
  • Cognitive Development: Growth and change in intellectual/mental abilities such as thinking, reasoning and understanding.
  • Perceptual and Motor Development: Children’s ability to control their body’s movements
  • Circle time: welcoming everyone, singing activity, reading, storytelling, poems and dramatic play
  • Small motor skills: Threading, molding, coloring, painting, touching different textures, play dough and the use of water and sand
  • Large motor skills: The use of tricycles, ropes (jump rope), balls, jumping, climbing, balancing, picking up, playing and construction with boxes
  • Lecture: Reading stories, singing, visualizing letters, numbers and nature around us.

Location

Lara Family Child Care Wonderschool is located in a warm and welcoming single family home in the Boyle Heights neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include a reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), and block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving).
