Our Teachers

Hi, I’m Erin and I have been running Kels Cuddle Nest Wonderschool for 5 years now. I discovered my passion for working with children while raising my daughter and expanding to caring for the children in our neighborhood. So I decided to change careers and open my own child care program and could not be happier with my decision! I am also the mother of two young children. I love what I do and devote my time daily to be there not only for my children but all children I encounter.

Philosophy

At Kels Cuddle Nest Wonderschool, we are intentional about developing the whole child – academically, emotionally, and physically – and we always try to expose them to many different cultures and opportunities outside of the learning environment.

Location

Kels Cuddle Nest Wonderschool is located in a quiet, safe neighborhood in South LA just 5 minutes from the 110 freeway.

We have daily outdoor time in our spacious backyard. We also take the children on nature walks to the local park sometimes to explore the world around us.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), manipulatives and math area (for fine motor skills and beginning math concepts), and art area (for expressing emotions and ideas).

At Kels Cuddle Nest Wonderschool, I want to provide an enriching environment where children feel free to explore and play.

About our program

In our program, children learn not only the foundational skills and knowledge they need to enter kindergarten but also how to communicate and cooperate with each other. We have created a space where kids feel comfortable working and playing together. From the start, we help them learn the importance of building trust and connection with everyone around them. They learn to work as a team as well as independently when needed. This is especially important for our toddlers who are starting kindergarten.

In terms of activities, we love to get hands-on. We make music and do arts and crafts together. We have tons of toys for all age groups, ranging from infant-specific toys to toddler-appropriate toys. We have special days and activities as well, like going on field trips and having parties or celebrations. We love seeing the sparkle in the kids’ eyes as they learn about nature during our exploration trips.

Parent communication

We like to stay in close contact with parents to give them updates on things happening with their children. Additionally, we engage in many cultural events and holidays and love to have parents participate and be a part of their child’s growth and development.

Meals

We serve hot and wholesome nutritious meals daily. It’s extremely important that every child has a well balanced meal. Mealtime and meal prep is also one of our favorite parts of the day.
