Our Teachers
Hello! I am Laura Juarez, the founder of Juarez Family Child Care Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I have 20 years of experience working with young children.
My daughter Alex and I have been running our child care program together for several years. We both love working with children of all ages and work hard to provide a safe, loving and nurturing environment. Alex enjoys arts & crafts and she even helped build some of the wooden materials in our dramatic play area! From our programming to the way we’ve thoughtfully designed our space, we hope to offer a unique and enriching educational experience for all children.
Philosophy
At Juarez Family Child Care Wonderschool, we offer a variety of opportunities for children to explore, create, and learn. We dedicated almost our entire home to our child care program to give children more than enough space to play in each learning area.
We center our activities around a “monthly theme” based in The Creative Curriculum. For example, in February we discuss Feelings (love and friendship); in June we learn about Community Helpers (firefighters, doctors, etc.) and in November we teach about The Foods We Eat so that children gain a better understanding of nutrition and the importance of eating their fruits and vegetables. We structure our days with a daily rhythm and planned activities while also giving children the chance to explore their own interests through free play.
Among the many benefits of in-home child care are the smaller ratios and warm, caring environment. We believe in having open communication with families to best serve the needs of each child. We welcome families from diverse backgrounds and seek to provide the highest quality care for all children.
Location
Juarez Family Child Care Wonderschool is located in a welcoming, warm single family home in the Silverlake neighborhood.
We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include a block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving), dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), and blocks/manipulatives area (for fine motor skills and beginning math concepts).
At Juarez Family Child Care Wonderschool, I want to provide a loving home away from home.
