Our Teachers

Hello! I am Gisela Ibarra, the founder of Ibarra’s Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because it has always been my dream to design my own space where children can blossom and grow. I have 18 years of experience working with young children, including an Associates degree in Early Childhood Education, and am in the process of completing my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. I am also a proud mother of a recent college graduate!

Please note that Spanish is my first language. I am most comfortable speaking in Spanish and my program is full Spanish language immersion. I do want to let parents know that I am not fluent in English and would prefer to communicate with you in Spanish, if you are able to speak Spanish!

Philosophy

My goal is to help children cultivate self-expression, positive self-image, self-esteem, motivation, cognitive development, and friendship with children of other cultures and customs while in my care. Ibarra’s Wonderschool implements an educational program that makes learning fun, where all children from all ages in the program participate year-round. In my program, children will be engaged in reading, writing, dramatic play, music and art, which will take place both inside our welcoming home, and outside in our expansive outdoor space.

Location

Ibarra’s Wonderschool is located in a welcoming, warm single family home in the Boyle Heights neighborhood.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), and music and movement area (for physical activity and cultural learning).

Children will have plenty of outdoor time everyday in my private yard where we grow plants, play house, crawl through tunnels, ride on our tricycles, and so much more. I believe spending time outside is vital to a child’s happiness and growth.

At Ibarra’s Wonderschool, I want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.
