Hi! I am Irma Sebastian, founder of Sebastian Wonderschool. I am originally from Oaxaca, Mexico where there are lots of traditions and strong culture. I was inspired to start my child care because the truth is, I love working with children. Many parents have to work in order to provide for their families and I have seen how this can impact the children. I was fortunate to be able to spend lots of time with my 3 children as they grew up. I want to provide a loving and caring environment for children and their families to ensure they get the quality care they deserve. I am excited to provide a Spanish speaking immersion program to encourage children to learn another language and introduce them to the traditions of my culture.

Please note that Spanish is my first language. I am most comfortable speaking in Spanish and my program is full Spanish language immersion. I do want to let parents know that I am not fluent in English and would prefer to communicate with you in Spanish, if you are able to speak Spanish.

¡Hola! Soy Irma Sebastian, fundadora de Sebastian Wonderschool. Soy originario de Oaxaca, México, donde hay muchas tradiciones y una cultura fuerte. Me inspiré para comenzar mi cuidado infantil porque la verdad es que me encanta trabajar con niños. Muchos padres tienen que trabajar para mantener a sus familias y he visto cómo esto puede afectar a los niños. Tuve la suerte de poder pasar mucho tiempo con mis 3 hijos a medida que crecían. Quiero brindar un ambiente de cariño y cuidado para los niños y sus familias para garantizar que reciban la atención de calidad que merecen. Me emociona proporcionar un programa de inmersión en español para alentar a los niños a aprender otro idioma y presentarles las tradiciones de mi cultura.

Philosophy

At Sebastian Wonderschool, we believe that children grow, learn and prosper feeling safe, loved and educated. Our program is a Spanish immersion to encourage children to learn and grow in their language skills. Our goal is to provide an environment that makes children feel welcome and at home, and to offer them a safe and secure environment where they feel protected and happy, through adequate attention to all their biological, emotional, and social needs. In our program, children will feel truly cared for and protected. We believe that children should feel free and be able to explore the entire space.

Location

Sebastian Wonderschool is located in a charming, warm single family home in the Boyle Heights neighborhood with plenty of outdoor space.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), manipulatives and math area (for fine motor skills and beginning math concepts), and art area (for expressing emotions and ideas).

Children will have some outdoor time everyday in my private yard or outdoor space. Children need space to run, jump, and move!

At Sebastian Wonderschool, I want to provide an enriching environment where children feel free to explore and play.

Sebastian Wonderschool está ubicada en una encantadora y cálida casa unifamiliar en el vecindario de Boyle Heights con una gran cantidad de espacio al aire libre.

Hemos diseñado nuestro entorno de atención con áreas de juego y aprendizaje que permiten a los niños explorar diversas actividades apropiadas para el desarrollo basadas en sus intereses. Algunas de nuestras áreas favoritas incluyen área de juego dramático (para la autoexpresión y empatía), área de manipuladores y matemáticas (para habilidades motoras finas y conceptos matemáticos iniciales) y área de arte (para expresar emociones e ideas).

2. Tour our program

Come see what makes Sebastian Wonderschool unique. Please schedule a tour or attend an Open House event.

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application. Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
