Our Teachers
Hi, my name is Patricia Butler and I have been running the Butler Family Wonderschool for 25 years. It has been my dream to start my own child care program since I was in school myself and nothing brings me more joy than taking care of kids. Working with all children of all backgrounds – including those with learning disabilities or behavior problems – is my calling.
I studied Early Childhood Education in college and worked at a children’s center afterwards. I then worked for the LA Unified School District focusing on children with special needs in hospital settings.
I have been a foster mom for 30 years. While it is hard to see the kids grow up and leave, I feel grateful to have retained a relationship with the children and adoptive parents to this day.
I have 6 kids of my own and 4 grandchildren. In my spare time, I enjoy dancing and spending time with my family.

Philosophy
We have been running Butler Family Wonderschool for 25 years with a focus on sharing love and an excitement to learn with every child in our program. Our goal is for children to explore, fill our space with their joys and interests, and learn about each other and their surroundings.
Location
Butler Family Wonderschool is located in a safe, quiet neighborhood in Carson. We have a great relationship with our neighbors, who consist of professionals like doctors and police officers. We are 5 minutes from the 405 and 7 minutes from the 91 Freeways.
We have daily outdoor time in our spacious front yard.
About our program
We have love for every single child that comes through our program. We love sharing our passion and enthusiasm for learning and “just being a kid” with our children. Children feel at home when entering our house, so they can feel safe to be themselves and explore.
We take our kids on outings to parks and grassy areas to play regularly. For the infants in our care, we work with them to practice gross and fine motor skills.
Nutrition is important to us and we serve homemade meals every day. Here are some sample menu items:
- Breakfast - Oatmeal, milk, sausages, eggs, grits, cream of wheat, bacon, toast
- Lunches - Mashed potatoes, green beans, chicken, rice, spaghetti, fettuccini, salad, milk and juice, fruits
- Snacks - Graham crackers, milk, yogurt, juice, popcorn puffers, fruits
We love keeping in close contact with our parents. We communicate daily during pick up and through phone calls. We schedule any meetings as needed.
