Our Teachers

Hello! I’m Jasmen Shahbazian, the founder of Jasmen’s Little Angels Wonderschool and I have 10 years of experience working with children. I’ve been running this program in my home for almost 3 years now. Prior to opening my own daycare, I was working with kids for over 5 years.

I have two grown boys of my own who I have seen through all ages and stages of development. In my spare time, I love cooking. I find it immensely soothing and stress-relieving, and it allows me to explore my own creativity. I actually ran my own food catering company years ago!

Testimonials

“I don’t know how to describe in words how happy I am that I found this place. My son is 18 months old and I couldn’t dream of a better place for him to go to. As every normal mom, I was super nervous the first day I left him because I did not know what to expect. It’s been 5 months since we started and let me tell you, there was not a single day when he refused to stay. In fact, he loves it so much that it can be pretty tough to get him out of there without crying. Something that made me want to go with this daycare is the bright super clean environment and caring selfless teacher who I could tell from the first day cares about kids’ wellbeing much more than the business side of it. She is also very big on nutrition which is so important.  Kids always get fresh fruits, veggies, and berries, and NO juices with sugar and artificial flavor. It is an amazing feeling to know that your child is thriving even if he is not at home with mom and dad. It’s such a friendly and loving environment that I like to think it’s like a second home for my son. Everything I said above is what I truly think and I am NOT EXAGGERATING.” - Anastasiia

“Jasmen’s childcare is the place for all children! She is so caring and kind with each child. She is able to connect with them and make them feel at home. My little cousins eased into her daycare without any issues! A huge plus is the food that she serves. Everything is home made with the freshest ingredients! The children feel great and therefore, actually want to attend the daycare! Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a great child care service with an owner who is sweet, smart, and welcoming!” - Arpi

Philosophy

Jasmen’s Little Angels Wonderschool is a play-based program serving children from infants up to school aged kids with an emphasis on wellness and nutrition. We have a passion for food and love sharing this with our kids, making sure they get nutritious and wholesome meals and establish a positive relationship with food. Nature and outdoor time is vital to a child’s development so we set aside quality time every day for outdoor play, stretches, and exercise.

We believe our role as carers and educators is to guide children while allowing them to explore and learn new things for themselves. We are there to play off their own curiosities and interests instead of telling them what to do and learn. We value one-on-one time with all our kids, especially our infants and toddlers. We focus on the tone of voice and body language, and try talking even if the child doesn’t necessarily understand.

Location

Jasmen’s Little Angels Wonderschool is located in a beautiful and welcoming single-family home in Burbank. We are located in a safe, quiet, family-friendly neighborhood. The 5 North and South highways are nearby allowing for an easy commute.

Our learning environment has a corner for every type of child and learning style. During child-led play and free time, the kids can explore in our quiet reading area, arts and crafts corner, or outdoor playground, for example. Our indoor space is decorated with educational posters on the walls and tons of toys.

Movement and physical activity are an essential part of a child’s development, so our children spend time outdoors in the backyard every single day. We plan some of our activities in the yard, as well as give them the option of free play in the playground.

About our program

A typical day at our daycare starts with drop off and free play as the children transition into the atmosphere. Throughout the day, we incorporate age-appropriate educational and fun activities. An important part of our day is circle time, where we focus on interacting with the kids by singing songs, learning new things, and discussing the current month, weather, etc. Before and after meals, we also teach the importance of washing hands and maintaining hygiene. In addition to lots of play, we also practice practical skills like teaching kids how to clean up after themselves.

Some of our favorite structured activities include musical games and identifying colors and shapes through real life objects such as fruits and vegetables. We offer toys appropriate for all ages, from infant to school-age. We have building blocks, a doll house, a cooking stove, stuffed animals, toy cars, educational toys, and much much more!

Meals

We believe it is important to create healthy eating habits while children are young so they can establish a positive relationship with food for the rest of their lives. We serve breakfast, lunch and two snacks to the children. For those enrolled in extended hours, we also serve dinner. We are in a partnership with children in fostering their healthy eating habits, so we create a routine and provide nourishing choices. We offer foods rich in fruits and vegetables, as well as traditional Armenian and Person dishes. We provide sweets or special treats every now and then so children never feel restricted.

Parent communication

We make sure to engage with the parents during drop off/self-initiated play in the morning. We also have an open door policy to any parent who may want to discuss things about their child outside of business hours. We administer a questionnaire to parents semi annually to gather feedback so we can constantly grow and improve our program.

Discipline

Following our philosophy, we focus on guiding the child rather than overruling them. In any case, conflicts do arise and as an experienced providers, we make sure to set clear and consistent rules for children to follow.
