Our Teachers
Hello! I am Maria Barron, the founder and director of Busy Bee’s Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because it has always been my dream to design my own space where children can blossom and grow. I have 25 years of experience working with young children.
Originally from Mexico, I moved to Southern California as a teenager and attended Bel Gardens High School. After finishing high school, I enrolled in Cerritos College where I focused on general studies and realized I had a passion for working with infants and toddlers and later transferred to National University where I studied Early Childhood Education.
I began working as an assistant teacher while at Cerritos College, for an elementary school working with the infant and toddler group at the YMCA and soon became a lead teacher. I left the YMCA and applied to Mexican American Opportunity Foundation to teach preschool, and was brought on board to become an education specialist.
I stayed in this role of Education Specialist for 19 years. I cherished every moment, where I had an opportunity to help directors run and operate successful in-home child care programs. I met with directors to identify appropriate curriculum, communicate with parents and ensure that every child’s needs were met.
Working with hundreds of directors over almost two decades has only strengthen my own passion and desire to run my own program. I am committed to the success of my students and excited to nurture a program that will ultimately create and foster future independent leaders for generations to come.

Philosophy
At Busy Bee’s Wonderschool, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by feeling safe, loved, and nurtured. It is our goal to provide an environment that makes children feel welcomed and at home. In our program, children will feel genuinely cared for and cherished.
Location
Busy Bees Wonderschool is located in a warm, welcoming single family home in the Maywood neighborhood.
We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), music and movement area (for physical activity and cultural learning), and art area (for expressing emotions and ideas).
Children will spend about half of their time outdoors in my private yard or outdoor space. Connecting with nature lets children gain deeper knowledge of themselves and the world.
At Busy Bees Wonderschool, I want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.
