Katie Newville, Owner/Operator

Katie has been caring for children for over 15 years and is excited for her newest role as a daycare provider.

During high school, Katie was a Bible school teacher, babysitter and camp counselor. After high school, she nannied, then moved to San Diego, CA where she pursued a teaching degree while working as a Special Education Classroom Assistant. While there, she taught ‘Picture Me Reading’, a unique reading curriculum for children, and was also the lead camp counselor for pre-schoolers for the Salvation Army Kroc Center.

After completing her first two years of college, she decided to stay home for the early years of her own children’s lives and later returned to Michigan to be closer to relatives.

She attended Grand Valley State University, but found that several of her college credits, including three semesters of American Sign Language, were not transferable. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Communication Studies degree and is currently working on a degree in Child Development.

With both of her own children now active and independent students, she is excited to be able to use her home to do what she has always enjoyed; teaching and caring for children. She understands how important the first years of a child’s life are and is passionate about providing children with a loving environment to learn.

At Cozy Christian Daycare, children are able to explore, discover and pretend their way to connection, understanding and growth. This Montessori-like, play based way of educating allows for personalized care within a group of children of varying ages and interests.

We believe it’s important to guide children towards the understanding that there is a God, that He loves them, and that we can learn about Him from the Bible. Children will have fun with Experience God, a curriculum that promotes cognitive, physical and social-emotional development while instilling a foundation in the Word of God. Each morning will start with a playful devotional that will be woven gently into the rest of the day.

Cozy Christian Daycare is located near the Fuller and Leonard St. intersection of Grand Rapids. Local schools may provide bussing to and from the daycare, but require that parents pursue and set up the bussing themselves.

At Cozy Christian Daycare, children are cared for in a safe, loving environment while being encouraged to create and explore through playful learning. Families receive daily communication, pictures and updates and are included in their child’s daycare experience.

Children meet their educational and age appropriate milestones while making friends and building a biblical foundation for their own relationship with Jesus. State guidelines for every aspect of childcare, including safety, nutrition, education, etc, are taken seriously and are met per licensing requirements.

Questions are encouraged!

Parents can expect regular, consistent communication to keep families connected to their child’s development, as well as their daily activities, schedules, meals and future events.
