Hello, I am Tiana Dabney and I have been working in child care for five years now. I absolutely love my job and find it incredibly rewarding to watch the children in my care learn and grow from their experiences.

As a child care provider, I specialize in working with autistic students and have tailored my approach to best meet their unique needs. I believe in creating a play-based environment that encourages exploration and creativity, while also providing structure and routine to help them feel safe and secure.

Working with autistic students has taught me so much about the power of patience and empathy. I have learned to be more mindful of their sensory needs and how to communicate effectively with them. It’s incredibly fulfilling to watch these children make progress and overcome challenges in their own unique ways.

In my child care program, I strive to provide a warm and welcoming environment where children can feel safe and cared for. I believe in fostering a sense of community and encouraging children to work together, share, and respect one another.

Overall, my experience working in child care has been incredibly rewarding. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of these children and their families. Seeing them learn and grow has been an absolute joy, and I look forward to continuing to do so for years to come.

A play-based program is a philosophy of childcare that places the child’s natural curiosity, creativity, and imagination at the center of their learning experience. This approach to childcare is based on the belief that children learn best when they are actively engaged in play and are encouraged to explore the world around them.

One of the key tenets of the play-based philosophy is that children learn through play. Play provides children with opportunities to develop their cognitive, physical, social, and emotional skills. When children play, they are using their imagination and creativity, which helps to foster their problem-solving skills and critical thinking abilities.

Another important aspect of the play-based philosophy is that it values the child’s interests and passions. Children are more likely to engage in play activities that are meaningful to them, and this can help to motivate them to learn and explore. By following the child’s lead, caregivers can create a learning environment that is tailored to their interests and needs.

The play-based philosophy also emphasizes the importance of hands-on, experiential learning. Children learn best when they are actively involved in their own learning process, rather than simply being passive recipients of information. Through hands-on activities, children can explore and experiment with the world around them, which can help to deepen their understanding and knowledge.

Finally, the play-based philosophy recognizes the importance of social and emotional development in young children. By providing opportunities for children to interact with others, caregivers can help to foster their social skills, such as sharing, cooperation, and empathy. Additionally, by providing a safe and supportive environment, caregivers can help children to develop their emotional intelligence and resilience.

Overall, the play-based philosophy of childcare is centered on the child’s natural desire to play and explore. By providing a nurturing and supportive environment that encourages active learning and exploration, caregivers can help to promote children’s holistic development and prepare them for success in school and beyond.
