This in home daycare has provided a nurturing and structured environment for all of the children who attend. Anna “After meeting the owner, I felt she was indeed strict and I took that into great consideration since in reality my daughter is being raised by the provider to some degree. My gut feeling was to go with it and I do not regret it! My daughter started at 2.5 months in Oct 2016 and I do not plan to go anywhere else. Everyday I have an opportunity to chat about how the day went and if there is any insight on my daughter’s development. I also believe that the kids currently there are all being taught manners because I see it everyday when I drop off and pick up. Even the toddlers that are not quite 2 yrs old listen very well. I appreciate that the owner takes in consideration of how much effort it takes her to watch an unruly toddler and being able to keep every child there safe and in line. Child neediness is a concern and there’s no reason to take offense–my experience has been to discuss what’s being done and take other approaches if things are not working. If my daughter showed signs of not wanting to be there, I would take her somewhere else and I feel that this provider would understand if it was the case. Lucky for us, my daughter smiles and laughs as well enjoys being around the other kids there.”
Elisabeth Our son started with Laurie and Jerry when he was 8 weeks old, and was with them until he was 2 1/2. They provided a loving home where Walter was always a part of the family - he was always excited to go see Laurie and Jerry. Laurie is strict, but she is strict with the child’s growth and well-being in mind. She sets clear boundaries with the kids and follows through with consequences, just like any parenting figure should. Having clear boundaries at home as well as at daycare, our son is able to fully grasp his expectations (cleaning up his toys, putting his shoes away, etc.). I would highly recommend Just Like Home Daycare - the only reason we left was that my husband I got jobs in South Lake Union and needed to shorten our commute. If we could have brought Laurie and Jerry to Seattle with us we absolutely would have!
