Our Teachers

Ashley Newton, Provider/Educator

She is looking forward to sharing this time with you and your child, in your child’s early years. She believes that children have an endless capacity for curiosity and wonder, and that they deserve the companionship of adults who honor their spirit of discovery. She promotes learning through play that encourages observation, exploration, and conversation. Her style of teaching is to guide children safely through their choices and gently challenge them to reach beyond their comfort zones to expand their worlds. She models patience, respect, and affection through listening and deep observation of a child. She is committed to providing all children and their families the best quality care possible. She is an experienced and educated Early Childhood provider who has been in the early childhood field for many years, from a toddler and infant assistant teacher at Turtle Island, a decade of being a Nanny for multiple families/ nanny shares in the Montpelier and Northfield communities and then jumping into teaching for a year as a teacher associate at Rainbow Gardens nursery/preschool program before pursuing this dream of hers to start her own in home childcare program. She knows that the first few years of a child’s life are what build their foundation for their future.

Philosophy

I embrace a nature play based approach to early childhood development, grounded in the belief that each child is a unique individual with natural potential and the capacity for growth. My philosophy is rooted in the following principles: Nurturing Roots: I recognize the importance of providing a secure and nurturing environment that serves as the foundation for a child’s overall well-being. By fostering a sense of belonging, trust, and emotional security, I establish strong roots that support each child’s social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Cultivating Curiosity: I believe that curiosity is the driving force behind learning. My program is designed to encourage children’s natural curiosity, providing opportunities for exploration, discovery, and hands-on learning experiences. I view each moment as a chance to inspire a love for learning.

Individualized Growth: Acknowledging the uniqueness of each child, I am committed to recognizing and supporting individual strengths, interests, and developmental stages. Through observation and thoughtful interactions, I tailor my approach to meet the diverse needs of every child, fostering a sense of self-discovery.

Building Strong Foundations: My curriculum is designed to lay the groundwork for comprehensive skill development, including cognitive, social, emotional, and physical developments. I prioritize activities that encourage problem-solving, critical thinking, and positive social interactions through play.

Community and Family Partnership: I value the importance of a collaborative relationship between my program, families, and the community. Open communication, mutual respect, and shared goals are essential in ensuring development and well-being of each child. My philosophy is not just a set of principles but a commitment to providing a nurturing and enriching environment where children can spread their wings, equipped with the roots necessary for a lifetime of growth and success.
