Our Teachers

My educational background includes a degree in Elementary Education as well as certifications in early childhood education. My experience includes being a director and lead teacher in a licensed child care center, a classroom counselor in an alternative school, and a mental health case manager/behavior interventionist in public schools.

Testimonials

Since attending Kim’s daycare, all three of my children are thriving! Kim is so wonderful at identifying each child’s different temperaments and developmental needs - and interacting with them accordingly. It has felt like such a gift to have the siblings be together during the day, engaging in a range of wonderful activities; their relationships with one another are so much stronger now. And to top it all off, Kim also feeds them really well! ~ Mariah Ford

The service offered is what every parent would like to see. A clean house, a nice yard with plenty of toys, a beautiful garden, lovely animals around and an experienced caregiver. Kim is very thoughtful and respectful around the needs for child care. She has our trust and we definitely recommend her business. ~ Leandro Pedrosa

“My husband and I came across Miss Kim’s in-home daycare by chance as a mutual friend shared her Facebook posting that she was accepting new kiddos into her program. I requested a tour, and she promptly responded to our request to come visit. To say I was nervous about our first child starting daycare was an understatement. My husband and I researched and looked at many daycare options, both in-home and larger facilities, but nothing ever felt “right” – until we found Miss Kim’s! When we came for our tour, my husband, my daughter, and myself immediately felt comfortable and “at home.” There was a positive, friendly energy that we all instantly felt.

Our family is so very thankful that we found Miss Kim’s daycare when we did. Our daughter regularly asks to go “play at Miss Kim’s” and has greatly progressed in her social and emotional development. She also has made great friends and connections.

We appreciate Miss Kim’s thoughtfulness when it comes to her fresh, healthy foods she feeds the kids, the outdoor/recreational time, and the explorative play that takes place daily.

Communication has also been wonderful as she regularly sends photos, pictures, updates/observations throughout the day to ease a parent’s mind. We cannot be happier with our choice to send our daughter to Miss Kim’s as our daughter will not only be ready for preschool when the time comes but she has also made a life-long connection with Miss Kim. Thank you, Miss Kim, for your kindness, love and dedication to our children and their future.”

Philosophy

In order to strive beyond licensing regulations to meet higher quality standards, uphold professional practices, and commit to continuous quality improvement, I will continue to participate in Vermont STARS. I currently hold 4 stars.

I believe that each child is an individual. I will value and develop each child’s strengths, interests, skills, abilities and knowledge. I will provide both indoor and outdoor activities for children to explore, discover, create and imagine. I believe learning is happening all the time and is interwoven through all developmental domains. Children should be given choices, responsibilities and opportunities to learn. This can happen not only through planned activities, but in the everyday moments of daily routines. Children need the assurance of being loved and care for, so security and trust are important components of my relationship with each child.

Meals and snacks are provided. Since nutrition plays a key role in a child’s development, including their mental health and behavior, whenever possible, I serve food grown and harvested locally, including fruits and veggies from our garden, and eggs from our free range chickens. When those foods aren’t an option, I purchase whole foods to serve to children that do not have added sugar, artificial sweeteners/colors, or other problematic ingredients or processing concerns.

Location

My home does not have road frontage and sits on 10 acres of mostly wooded property. There is a fenced outdoor play area for young children. We have dogs, chickens, goats, hiking trails and a garden…all of which children have access to with signed parental permission. Our property is surrounded by more than 30 acres of wooded land that is often used for hunting, so outdoor activities may be limited to the season.

About our program

In my home, children thrive in a caring atmosphere that promotes self-reliance and emotional growth. My focus on outdoor activities ignites curiosity. Moreover, I have years of experience in supporting individualized learning and diverse needs.
