Lead Instructor, Malikan Forde, started her path to Early Childhood Development in High School where she was enrolled in the Early Childhood Development major. Since then Malikan has earned her Bachelors in Criminal Justice and her Masters in Psychology. Malikan has worked with groups from toddler through adult with behavioral and mental health disorders and has also worked for Department of Corrections as a Counselor. Less than a year later Pineapple Haven became State Licensed and within a few months after Malikan earned her CDA (Child Development Associate) Credential during the pandemic. What’s next? Malikan plans to complete all Levels of the Virginia Quality rating scale, which is currently at Level 3 and then, hopefully, open a larger Family Day Home

Philosophy
Our onboarding philosophy emphasizes quality interactions and materials to create “Experiences which Matter,” while our additional philosophy stresses that all children should have access to experiences promoting creativity, problem-solving, and enjoyment. Each child’s interaction and expectations are developmentally appropriate, challenging, and fun in a high-quality, safe, and nurturing environment. Quality educators who are educated, supportive, and nurturing should be accessible to all children.
