DeShonda Monique Jennings is the epitome of Resilience & Leadership. In addition to being the founder of DJ Shining Stars Daycare DBA DJ Shining Stars Preschool, she is also an author, speaker, parent & youth advocate , Business Coach, and Early Childhood Educator. DeShonda has over 20 years’ experience in childcare and 15 plus years in Entrepreneurship. She is a firm believer that “It takes a Village”. In which through her non-profit she will continue to change lives one Woman and youth at a time. When I moved to Chesterfield in 2009, I didn’t have family or friends who lived in the area. But I had to find childcare for my two daughters for me to work a full-time job. I was introduced to DeShonda Jennings from “DJ’s Shining Stars”. Everything was extremely professional. She welcomed my children and me with open arms. Philosophy

To show the love of God to each child regardless of age, race, ethnic origin, or creed. To provide a safe and happy environment for children. To relate to each child with courtesy, respect, patience, and affection. To reflect the standards set by the state. To provide age and developmentally appropriate experiences. To teach literacy, math, science, social skills fine and gross motor skills through meaningful play. To empower and equip children with skills needed in life and adulthood.

Location

We are a single family home located in the Holly Ridge Subdivision. We are on a corner lot with a fenced play area. Our location is within 10-15 minutes of I-95 and 288. We are minutes away from CJW hospitals, Chippenham Pkwy, and Powhite Pkwy.

About our program

DJ’s Shining Stars Daycare was founded in 2007 by DeShonda Jennings. We believe in learning through play. Our program is set up into learning centers. The centers are art, block play, math and manipulatives, literacy/cozy corner, science and nature, dramatic play, and music and movement. While children are engaging in play, the following skills will be taught: cognitive skills, vocabulary, social skills, problem-solving, and language development to name a few. Our school age room is set up with individual desks for each student. Headphones with microphones are provided for each student along with their individual supplies needed for success.

Come see what makes DJ Shining Stars Daycare unique. We are currently hosting initial tours virtually and in person . 3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application at www.wonderschool.com/dj-shining-stars-daycare-6355/apply – note that we require an initial tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
