Philosophy

Inspired by European Forest Schools, children have positive experiences and participation in learning activities that are normally organized in open, outdoor, natural environments. We value the social and personal skills that children learn by working together and becoming seekers of everyday magic. The majority of playtime is intentionally child-led, and the instructor brings curriculum and thematic materials.

About our program

I started this program because time engaging with nature and peers is so important. I love to see the pure joy and confidence that children develop and carry with them when they are given this opportunity to safely explore.

At Mountain Maple Outdoor Preschool we meet at a few different parks around Salt Lake City and Murray. Your child will start the afternoon on a play structure, then we will have a snack, and walk into the trees for an afternoon of discoveries. The instructor brings activities, props, meditations, and themes. Most of the play is child-led, while the instructor is present to encourage curiosity and maintain a safe space with clear boundaries.
