Philosophy

Sheila’s Tinee Totz is a certifed in-home daycare and has been in business for 21 years. We support early learning and are advocates for children. We have taken part in early childhood conferences and trainings that support the rights and development of children.

Our teaching style is based on a child development model which incorpates the theories of Jean Piaget. Piaget believed that children develop cognitive thinking through related and respected experiences. According to Piaget “ A child’s knowledge of the world lies in their actions”. Your child will be given the opportunity to experience and participate in a variety of learning activities. We believe childhood is a unique and valuable stage of the human life. Every child is will be respected and provide with a safe and healthy environment. Sheila’s Tinee Totz goal is to prepare your child for school. Our commitment is to create a high quality developmentally appropriate program and supportive environment for all children, including children with special needs that will help your child to succeed in life. Our physical environment is set up to consider the unique needs of each child. All areas will be accessible to all children. Our curriculum will be based on the child’s age, interest and developmental skills. The environment will support learning in each of the developmental areas (social, emotional, cognitive, physical). It will influence a child’s growth and development.

Sheila’s Tinee Totz recognizes the importance of family involvement. Our program is designed to reinforce the role of the family as being the major influence in their child’s life. A parent’s involvement is crucial part of a child’s emotional and social growth. We encourage parents to be involved in all aspects, recreational, educational and administrative. We work with families through one on one conferences and newsletters. Through family involvement we are allowed opportunities to provide ongoing communication with the families about their child’s development.
