Philosophy
As a mother of 7 and a grandma of 10, I understand how important family is. I value and treat each child and family the same no matter age, race, culture, or disabilities. I value kind hearts, kind hands, safe bodies, and kind words. My goal is for your child or children to be happy and successful.
I would like to start by saying that it is important to me that I develop a strong partnership with each family so that I can provide a second safe and supportive home for your child to spend their day learning from curriculum and child led play. I believe that families are an important part of their child’s development and learning. My goal is to share information through daily two-way communication so that you know how your child is doing and what they are working on throughout the day. I am always respectful of each family’s culture and welcome you to share how you celebrate your beliefs with me. We do celebrate holidays including Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day, and more. I have an open-door policy so you are more than welcome to come in and join us at any time.
While your child is spending time at my house they will have the opportunity for social interaction with a variety of other children, some older, some younger, some at the same developmental level and some with learning or physical challenges. I believe that all children learn through play, so when we can, we play outside. Sometimes we go to the local park that is down the street from my home. Sometimes we take walks around the block and look for things like birds or leaves changing color. We really like to play at sensory table and we do that often.
Although we have a daily schedule that we follow, we allow flexibility for activities that the children seem to be really enjoying. We have circle time several times a day. At my program we use words of encourage throughout the day to help build self-confidence and self-esteem. We also teach our children how to be a good friend to others and make friendships that will last a lifetime.
Location
We are located in airport height. Nice quiet neighborhood park is roughly a block away. We are on both elementary school bus routes.
About our program
I have put a lot of time and effort into building my program and currently are a 4 star sparks rated program. All of my volunteers, including family members who work with the children have completed the Darkness to Light Training for Child Abuse and Neglect.
I believe that we all learn and grow from each other. Whether you are a single parent, a two parent home or whatever your family unit looks like by the end of your child’s time with us you will feel like you are part of a bigger extended family.
