Our Teachers
I am a mom and grandma and have worked with children of all ages for many years. I have always enjoyed little ones and am currently working on an associate degree in infant/toddler development. Six years ago I decided to open a state licensed family childcare in our home. This opened a world of personal development to me that I didn’t even know was available. What a wonderful opportunity to receive support and training while continuing to do what I love.

Philosophy
Philosophy
In my program I believe that every child has immeasurable value and importance. That they each have their own personality, abilities, interests, learning styles and intelligences as well as unique family cultural heritage, customs and beliefs. I strive to create a welcoming and engaging environment where each child and family will feel safe, accepted and valued regardless of their race, faith, cultural background, family situation, individual abilities or disabilities. I will endeavor to respond to each child and family’s needs with consistently kind words and responses. I will be firm but fair when needed.
I believe that parents and family are a child’s first and most important nurturers and teachers. I will support, encourage and value these relationships. I will partner together with parents with the goal of helping to raise a happy, healthy, well-adjusted child. In this valued partnership I welcome open and frequent conversations and suggestions. Parental involvement is essential to the child’s learning process. Children take delight in showing their parents and family what they have learned and accomplished. I will occasionally send texts and pictures throughout the day of what we are learning or doing. So that parents can be included and prepared to respond to their child and when possible continue the learning or interest at home.
I believe and value that each parent or family is special and unique. I will look for ways to include those who are willing and interested to share with my program in planned situations or opportunities. Something as delightful as bringing the new baby goats by to be touched and petted or the sharing of holiday traditions and customs.
I believe that children learn first and best through play. I will provide a wide variety of play indoors and out. During play children learn and develop not only fine motor and large motor skills but social and emotional skills as well. I will provide a wide range of learning opportunities and experiences such as:
-planned lessons -circle time -reading (individually and as a group) -songs -games -projects -dramatic play – reenacting stories -and plenty of outdoor play (structured and free play).
I am willing to explore and encourage child directed interests as well. I use “The Creative Curriculum” as the core of my curriculum. I will work toward kindergarten readiness for each child.
I will pursue opportunities to continue my education and training in order to stay inspired and informed. This will help me to stay current and provide the best childcare practices possible.
I look forward to, and place high value on, the relationships that I hope will develop, between myself and your family and child, as work and play together in the days ahead.
About our program
In my childcare the children become a part of what feels like a daycare family. We lovingly refer to the kids as daycare cousins. I get to be a mix of grandma and childcare provider. I have had the privilege of working with families and caring for their precious children. This is a responsibility I take seriously and I do my best to keep their young minds busy and engaged in positive learning opportunities and experiences.
