Alex Spreier, Director/Administration/Teacher

Alex is a highly capable and handy teacher to have around! He obtained his Masters degree in education and worked for a local elementary school for 7 years as a 4th and 5th grade teacher. After some personal complications with his family, he made the choice to work from home where he could be closer to his spouse, Sharon and their children.

Koi Spreier, Director, Teacher Sharon has worked in Pre-school for over 10 years! She has experience working in many different kinds of programs but really connected to the gentleness of Waldorf and the learning capability/style of Montessori. Koi’s dream has always been to open a Preschool and it finally came true when her family experienced hardship. With that hardship grew strength, determination and a clear path to open their home to learning.

Philosophy

Here at Little Sebas Preschool, we highly believe in the fluidity of education. Each child is unique and learns in their own exceptional way. With our play based, child led learning, we can highlight these individual moments and propel each student into their own interests. Little Sebas is distinctive for its home based style of education. Kids learn to take care of not only themselves but their environment and others around them by engaging in household activities. Our aim is to use progressive education to welcome diversity by not just recognizing our commonalities, but celebrating our differences. We provide opportunities throughout the day to learn new skills and to practice emotional regulation. We encourage children to see past their own lenses and to embrace their fellow classmates with compassion and kindness.

Location

We are located in the Larkspur community on the East side of Bend, Oregon. We are a small walk away from two nearby parks and are located very near to Bear Creek Elementary School.

About our program

Sebastian (Seba), for which our preschool is named, was diagnosed with Lowe Syndrome not long after he was born to a friend of ours. This is a very rare genetic abnormality that affects primarily boys and can cause significant medical problems. Even though he passed away at 15 months old due to complications, he has set our family on a path toward empathy and compassion. We hope to raise awareness for children with medical needs and hope that we can provide extra support for families going through difficulties. Our own son has and still is dealing with medical traumas and we appreciate the understanding from our clients that our program is flexible.
