Our Teachers

At The Child Care Learning Academy, our dedicated team is passionate about providing high-quality care in a nurturing, home-based environment. The program is led by Melanie Rivera, a licensed Group Family Daycare Provider with over a decade of professional experience. She is currently pursuing her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and working toward NAFCC national accreditation, ensuring excellence in early childhood education.

Melanie is supported by Aleigha Bussey, a loving and experienced mother of two who brings warmth, creativity, and reliability to the classroom. Mailynn Melendez, our newest team member, adds youthful energy and a natural ability to connect with children through play and curiosity.

All staff are certified in CPR, First Aid, and Mandated Reporting, and regularly complete professional development to stay aligned with New York State child care standards.

Together, we are your village—offering compassionate, responsive care 24 hours a day.

Philosophy

At The Child Care Learning Academy, we believe that every child deserves a safe, loving, and enriching environment where they can grow, explore, and thrive—at any hour of the day. Our program blends the structure of a research-based curriculum with the warmth of home, offering a well-rounded approach to early learning.

We follow The Creative Curriculum and align our practices with the New York State Early Learning Guidelines, focusing on developmentally appropriate, hands-on experiences that support each child’s physical, cognitive, social-emotional, and creative growth.

Our core values include:

Whole-child development through play, exploration, and meaningful interaction Family partnership, recognizing that parents are a child’s first and most important teachers Cultural respect and inclusion, ensuring that every child feels seen, heard, and valued Flexible care with consistent love, supporting non-traditional schedules while maintaining high-quality care We’re not just caregivers—we’re your partners in raising confident, capable, and joyful learners.

Location

The Child Care Learning Academy is conveniently located in the heart of Rochester, NY, in a safe, family-friendly neighborhood near the intersection of Goodman Street and Norton Street. Our program is nestled within a quiet residential area, providing a cozy, home-based environment where children feel secure and nurtured.

We are close to several local schools, including School No. 45 and Edison Tech, as well as beautiful green spaces like Norton Village Park and Seneca Park Zoo, offering great opportunities for nature walks and outdoor play.
