Our Teachers

Hello! My name is Margarita and I am the found of MG Sunshine Daycare & Wonderschool! I have over 30 units of early childhood education classes from local colleges and have been running this program for over 12 years. My daughter grew up here as well, and she often supports me and the children throughout the day.

Philosophy

At MG Sunshine Daycare & Wonderschool, we believe that children learn best when they are given a chance to explore the world around them. When children are able to play in a space that is created for them, they interact with each other and grow together! Being a play-based program means that we use what children enjoy doing to guide their activities and to select the types of materials that we have available for them. The more children can explore, the more we can help them develop a sense of themselves and the world around them!

Location

Our program is located in a single-family home in the Ridgewood neighborhood of Queens. Families enter a separate entrance and will see three rooms that are dedicated to the children in my care. Each day, we are able to spend playtime outside in our covered yard and playspace. Our program is located a few blocks from the Halsey L stop for parents using the subway.

About our program

We support growth and learning by using a weekly curriculum plan with the students. We choose songs for circle or activities during group play based on children’s interest, and then incorporate these into our weekly plan. Often, these activities include discussions with children about what’s happening in their lives that we then use when deciding what to include in the curriculum.

We love to support children in their independence. These are important years for young learners, and children move from our science section to our block area to our dramatic play space on their own. This lets them explore topics of interest and encourages their curiosity.

We are a bilingual program. At MG Sunshine Daycare & Wonderschool, we support language development in both English and Spanish. Your child will grow their vocabulary in either language as we play, sing, and dance in both.

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application! Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
