Our Teachers

In order to become a licensed Group Family Childcare Provider, my staff and I are carefully screened through the New York State Office and Children and Family Services. We are fingerprinted, have a comprehensive background screening, yearly physicals, and participate in ongoing training.

Founder and Director Frances Jones is a New York native born and raised. She attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh PA where I served as Chapter President for my sorority, Delta Sigma Theta for 2 consecutive years. I graduated with my BA in Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Political Science.

Upon returning to Ny and working as a Case planner for foster children for 7yrs. I felt my purpose to do more was not being fulfilled. After having my daughter, I struggled to find childcare in my neighborhood and finally with the encouragement from my husband I decided to start my own daycare.

It has been the best decision thus far and most rewarding because not only have I Impacted my community but I have impacted all the families who have trusted my daycare to teach and nurture their children. We do not just base our program only on learning . We feel it is very important to create a safe, loving, happy and fun environment that will actually help our children interested in creative learning.

Philosophy

Welcome to Toni Sunshine! Our mission is to promote a healthy environment and development. We nurture and teach social skills, character building, and a play based educational ciriculum. We are a small setting, with a mixed age group whereby the children can also, learn from one another.

About our program

Toni Sunshine is located in the Riverton Square. Which is a safe and secure gated community. Security is 24hrs with beautiful amenitites. Smoke free enivorment, outdoor seating area, children’s playground, basketball court, picnic lawn and so, much more. We are conveniently located in Central Harlem and steps away from the 2/3 Subway lines and the M1, BX33, M102, M7 bus lines.

We have an open layout, so, the children are always supervised from all angles of the room. Where we nurture children’s development through appropriate practices. The children learn about shapes, colors and numbers through play, storytelling, exploring the outdoors, and arts and crafts. Some of our daily activities include, circle time, story time, movement, and free play.

Central Harlem stretches from beyond the northern end of Central Park to the Harlem River. It is a neighborhood of rich history, beautiful architecture, and revitalizing growth. Toni Sunshine Daycare will always share with families about free events going on in our communities. Including City Parks Foundation Puppet Mobile, The Studio Museum of Harlem, Central Park and the West Harlem Piers. Riverton Square where the daycare is located is always having events and each family will be able to attend once staff gives access. We encourage all families to take advantage of all of the neighborhood offerings!

If we are not currently hosting tours, you’ll see a “Request Info” button at the top of this page; if you submit your information using this button, we will notify you when we start host tours again in the future.

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application at www.wonderschool.com/toni-sunshine-daycare-wonderschool-8272/apply – note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
