Our Teachers
At The Blue Hippo Daycare, we are proud to provide a nurturing, inclusive, and enriching environment where every child can thrive.
With over 25 years of experience as a childcare provider, we are committed to creating a safe and engaging space where children can learn, grow, and explore. Our passion for working with young learners drives everything we do at our daycare.
Our team also includes two exceptional bilingual special education teachers, each bringing a unique blend of expertise and life experience:
One teacher, a mother of four, has a Master’s Degree in Special Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Her personal and professional experience provides her with deep insight into the needs of children and families, making her a compassionate and resourceful educator.
The other teacher, a proud grandmother, also holds a Master’s Degree in Special Education and a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. She brings a wealth of wisdom, patience, and dedication to creating individualized learning experiences that empower every child to succeed.
Together, we share a commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and stimulating environment for all children. By blending professional knowledge with life experience, we ensure every child feels valued and supported on their journey of growth and discovery.
We look forward to welcoming your child into our daycare family and partnering with you to help them thrive!
Philosophy
At The Blue Hippo Daycare, we follow the play-based curriculum philosophy, which is a non-academic approach to developing skills designed to provide a firm foundation for later academic success. We help your child develop feelings of security, accomplishment, and self-esteem while living the daily and weekly rhythms that are woven into the cycle of the year. On any given day, we may enjoy art, storytelling, movement, and local excursions to experience the world around us. Children are encouraged to explore and learn through unstructured play, which fosters lifelong creativity and intellectual curiosity.
Location
Closest transit is the J train at Cleveland St or Van Siclen Ave and the Q56 bus at Jamaica Ave/Jerome St. Located in a residential area close to a park with a library located a couple of blocks away. We are located in a quiet and safe area.
