Regina Cruz is the founder of Regina’s Wonderschool. After working to support other child care providers who were running their own daycare programs, she decided it was time for her to start her own. Not only does she love caring for children, she also saw a huge need for a high quality program in her Bushwick neighborhood. She loves having her daycare in her home and is so happy she can provide a caring environment for families needing child care in her area. Fun fact - she has 4 sisters and they all have jobs working with children!
Adriana Cruz is Regina’s sister and works at Regina’s Wonderschool! She has been working at the daycare for over 3 years and absolutely loves it. She loves working with the children one-on-one and truly feels like each child is part of her family. She love providing specialized support to children who need it and is so happy to be a part of Regina’s Wonderschool community and staff.

Philosophy
After many years of supporting child care providers in my neighborhood, I made the decision to open my own daycare. My experience working in the child care field led me to create exactly the kind of program I wanted to provide for the families in my community. I believe that it’s important to create a safe, nurturing and comfortable environment for all children and want them to feel like family when they come to my home.
Location
Regina’s Wonderschool is located in a welcoming, inviting apartment in Bushwick. We are within walking distance of both the Morgan Avenue and Jefferson Street L train stops and a longer walk from the Flushing Avenue M/J train stop. We are also right across the street from P. S. 145.
We love providing different areas where kids can learn, explore, and most importantly - have FUN! We have a science area, a space to cozy up and read together, an area for puzzles, and much, much more. Our days are spent learning about the world around us, the seasons, and how to connect with each other. Children will have some outdoor time everyday at our local park and playground. We love to be active and make sure we are exercising!
About our program
Here are some other elements of my program:
- We believe it’s important to focus on the positive. This means that we reinforce positive behaviors - instead of focusing on what the kids might be doing wrong. We talk to them in soft voices and ask them questions about their behavior to create awareness. We want to be encouraging and supportive.
- We’re big on communication! Yes, learning happens at our program every day– but it also happens at home. It’s really important to us to work with families to make sure that they’re on the same page about what their children are up to at school so that they can follow up and have those conversations and play at home too.
- We’re a bilingual program. I am originally from the Dominican Republic so Spanish is my first language. Even though I speak English, I love sharing my language with the kids in the program - and your child will have the opportunity to communicate in both English and Spanish!
