Our Teachers

Hello! I am Caroline McGill, the founder of McGill’s Open Arms Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I have 15 years of experience working with young children and my mom, who’s “The Queen Of Kids”, works with me in the program as well.

Philosophy

My program’s philosophy is reflected in our name: we believe it’s important to welcome children with open arms, especially because for many of them, this is their first time away from home. It’s important to us that we’re providing them with a safe environment where they can develop their minds and have the opportunity to explore, experiment and grow.

One of my favorite elements of the program is how we incorporate nature. We love using natural materials like rocks and leaves. We use these materials to engage with children’s curiosities about their surroundings and we may even use them to make art. For example, we recently made a collage using leaves that we found outside.

I know that for many children in the program, this is their first time in a child program program and we ensure that you and your child feel comfortable, safe and content in our program - and we’ll work with you to provide a nurturing environment for your child.

Location

We are located on the ground floor of a home in Bedford Stuyvesant. Our program is spacious and inviting - and we’re lucky to have our own outdoor space as well. We do like to mix it up though - on some days, we go to local park in the neighborhood.

About our program

Our program is truly a family child care program as it’s run by a mother and daughter team! We love working together to make sure that your child is getting everything they need.
