Our Teachers

Hello there! My name is Latasha Collins and I am the founding director of Karter’s Korner Family Daycare. I have worked with kids for many years - all the way back to high school when I worked at daycares on my summer break. While I eventually went on to get my B.A. in Fashion, one of my most memorable experiences was internship supporting children’s learning at the New York Natural History Museum.

After I began taking care of my son (who I call my first ever student!), I realized I was passionate about helping children grow. I received my license in 2017 and am working on my M.A. in Early Childhood Education. In addition to running Karter’s Korner, I also have a small business that plans and decorated small children’s events, such as birthday parties!

Philosophy

Karter’s Korner & Wonderschool believes that when children have the chance to explore the world around them through play, they develop a sense of self and have many opportunities to learn. Our environment is set up to give kids the chance to safely navigate activities that give them a great foundation and build curiosity.

Location

Our program is located in a single-family home with its own outdoor space. Cuddle Bee is located within walking distance from Broadway Junction, which is convenient for anyone needing the L, A, C, J, and Z line. At the crux of Bed-Stuy, Brownsville, and East New York, you’ll find our program tucked into Brooklyn.

About our program

Our program uses Teaching Strategies for Development. This keeps learning outcomes organized and helps me plan for children of all ages on the program.

All levels of development are supported. Our environment is both fun and loving so that children can begin their academic and social journey in a way that celebrates them. We cover colors, shapes, numbers and other topics throughout the day to set up children with a strong foundation.

Parents are partners! I want to keep you in the loop and often share photos with parents. I like finding out from parents what type of updates they want and providing information at pickup or when children hit different milestones.
