Our Teachers

Hello! I am Juana Llaverias, the founder and head teacher at Juana’s Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program 5 years ago because it has always been my dream to design my own space where children can blossom and grow. I have 20 years of experience working with young children. I have raised two children of my own and am so excited to continue working with children in my community!

Philosophy

At Juana’s Wonderschool, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by feeling safe, loved, and nurtured. It is our goal to provide an environment that makes children feel welcomed and at home when they walk through our door.

We schedule many activities throughout the day to keep their brains and bodies active and to give them a learning advantage before they enter preschool. Children are taught in both Spanish and English as they develop age appropriate science, math, and reading skills.

At Juana’s, all children will feel genuinely cared for and cherished every single day. We look forward to meeting you and your little one!

Location

Juana’s Wonderschool is located in a warm, welcoming apartment in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn. We are a short walk from the Smith/9th Street stop off the F/G trains and right across the street from the B57 and B61 buses!

At Juana’s Wonderschool, I want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child. I’ve designed my program to include play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include manipulatives and math area (for fine motor skills and beginning math concepts), dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), and nature area (for discovering nature and science concepts). Children will have some outdoor time everyday at a local park or playground as I believe that connecting with nature is vital to a child’s happiness and growth.
