Our Teachers

Hello! I am Tomekia Caddle, the founder of Tomekia’s Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because it has always been my dream to design my own space where children can blossom and grow. I have 8 years of experience working with young children.

I received top honors for “Overall Excellence” and “Creativity & Innovation”. I received the “Quality Award” for consistently delivering high quality services to children and families. In 2017 and 2019, I was recognized as top provider of the year for service excellence in all aspects of program delivery.

We LOVE JBA Wonderschool! As a new mom I was so hesitant to leave my baby at daycare. Ms. Tomekia and her staff have been fabulous. They made sure that I felt comfortable and are transparent. I was able to come as often as I wanted to and see the program. They care for my son as if he was their own child. I especially love that he is a part of all activities and is fully engaged and stimulated in learning activities throughout the day. Ms. Tomekia continues to educate herself and move the program to greater and greater heights. I have noticed increasable growth in my sons development since attending JBA. My family is blessed that we found a place they our son enjoys. He loves arriving which is evidenced by the huge smile on his face when I drop him off. He has such a good time that there are many days he is not ready to go home when I arrive for pickup. In our 3 months with JBA we are very satisfied.

Philosophy

At J’s Borough Academy (JBA) Wonderschool, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by feeling safe, loved, and nurtured. It is our goal to provide an environment that engages children with developmentally-appropriate activities and materials. In our program, children will feel supported as they engage with new ideas and learning.

In my program I build caring and trusting relationships with children. Having positive interactions daily sets the foundation for all children to learn and explore the world around them.

I expect that children will implement all positive interactions that they receive and learn in my program. Children are taught that everyone is special, unique and everyone deserves equal opportunities to shine.

I love that my space provides all the children with a safe and healthy learning environment. I strongly believe that a safe learning environment gives way to a healthy setting for children to thrive.

Location

JBA Wonderschool is located in a welcoming warm single family home.

We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include dramatic play area (for self-expression and empathy), block area (for gross motor skills and problem solving), and reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite).

Children will have some outdoor time everyday at a local park or playground. Connecting with nature lets children gain deeper knowledge of themselves and the world.

About our program

My program is committed to making sure children receive nutritional meals three times per day. Providing nutritious meals daily helps Children’s bodies grow strong and healthy.

Engaging with parents starts at orientation. Orientation sets the stage for me to build partnerships with families. As time continues that partnership opens a line of communication that encourages families to feel comfortable to engage with me. I continue to foster parent engagement by keep them in the know about their child’s schedule and what it will consist of. On a daily basis, I engage with parents via text message, email, updates or face-to-face at pickup time. I make myself available to hear each families cares and needs.
