Our Teachers
Hello! I am Lisa Thomas, the founder of Happy Hours. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community. I have 30 years of experience working with young children.
Philosophy
At Happy Hours, we believe that children grow, learn, and thrive by feeling safe, loved, and nurtured. It is our goal to provide an environment that helps each child to feel confident and capable. In our program, children will feel supported as they engage with new ideas and learnings.
Location
Happy Hours is located in a welcoming, charming townhouse in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood.
We’ve designed our care environment with play and learning areas that allow children to explore various developmentally-appropriate activities based on their interests. Some of our favorite areas include reading / cozy area (for literacy, relaxation, and respite), art area (for expressing emotions and ideas), and sensory area (for spatial awareness and learning through the five senses).
Children will have some outdoor time everyday in my private yard or outdoor space. Connecting with nature lets children gain deeper knowledge of themselves and the world.
At Happy Hours, I want to provide an environment that supports the cognitive, social, and emotional growth of each child.
