Our Teachers

Hi there! I am Emma Olivero, and I am the founder of Emma’s Family Daycare & Wonderschool. I am the proud parent of a teenage son and love working with children. It is my goal that children are prepared for whatever experiences they have after they leave my daycare! I worked with children here in the Bronx and in my home country of the Dominican Republic, and received my license in 2018.

Philosophy

At Emma’s Family Daycare & Wonderschool, we are a play-based program that supports child development of all ages. I believe that play gives children the chance to explore the world around them – when children are engaged with toys or materials, they’re also talking, listening, and building communication skills. As a Spanish-immersion program, your child is having these conversations in Spanish with me throughout the day.

Location

Our program is located in a safe apartment complex where I will buzz you in and out for pick-up and drop-off. We are in the Mott Haven neighborhood of The Bronx, near several new apartment complexes and the 6 line’s Cypress Ave and E 143rd stops. Outside time comes from walks around the block and playing in nearby St. Mary’s Park.

About our program

We believe in creating a space where children can feel loved and respected. In-home childcare is a small, caring space that lets us connect with families and get to know your child as they develop here with us!

There are lots of activities for kids. From developing fine motor skills on our Montessori wall to painting in our art area, children have the freedom to choose from many developmentally appropriate activities.

Parents stay informed about what happens during the day. I like to share photos and videos with parents so that they know what happened at our daycare each day. Also, I provide a written note or discussion monthly to talk about your child’s development.

As part of a local food program, your child is getting their recommended nutritional portions through home-cooked meals each day.
