Our Teachers

Hello! I am Shanice Johnson, the founder of Children’s Choice Wonderschool. I was inspired to start my own program because I saw a need for high-quality care in my community and I feel rewarded knowing that I am working with the community. I have previously worked with both Jumpstart and Tutor Time, serving kids for over 4 years. I love to see kids take everything you’ve taught them and then put it to use.

Philosophy

At Children’s Choice Wonderschool, we believe that children grow through well-structured play through activities and space that is created with kids in mind. It is our goal to provide an environment that engages children with developmentally-appropriate activities and materials. In our program, children will feel genuinely cared for and cherished.

Location

Children’s Choice Wonderschool is located on the first floor of a safe, welcoming, and cozy apartment in the Wakefield neighborhood of the Bronx. Children have access to my private backyard for outdoor time, and I have designated multiple rooms for the children! We are a short walk from the Nereid Ave train station for both the 2 and 5 train lines.

About our program

We love to support students with hands-on learning. There are so many ways that play can help children explore. Your child may engage through kinetic sand, play-doh, fingerpainting, water play or a host of other activities!

We share what happens each day with parents. I take photos of the children and hang up their art work. To stay in touch with what’s happening at Children’s Choice, you can also check out our family board.

We believe in providing the foundation for your child’s future academic pursuits. At this age, we are able to give kids the social and language skills they need to have success no matter where they go next!

3. Submit an Enrollment Application

If you would like to enroll, please submit an application here! Please note that we require tours for all prospective families. Please do not submit an application if you have not visited the program.

4. Enroll

After reviewing your application, we’ll send an enrollment invitation. Upon accepting your invitation you’ll pay your enrollment fee, fill out enrollment documents and review our Parent Handbook.
