Christa Bowman
I absolutely love teaching! I worked in the Early Head Start program throughout college caring for and teaching children from infants to preschool. I graduated from the University of Nevada in 2009 with a dual Special and Regular Education degree and taught in the Washoe County school district for 5 years before deciding to become a stay-at-home mom. I am a mom of seven and have always dreamed of having my own in-home childcare program after the birth of my oldest daughter, who is 12 now! I am excited for this opportunity to teach a small group of children. This small group setting will allow me to really know your child as an individual and to provide an individualized, solid and supportive foundation in the early years of learning.
Fun Facts
I ran on the Cross Country and Track and Field teams at UNR. This is where I met my husband, Matt who played on the UNR baseball team.
My favorite food is anything Italian.
My favorite color is yellow.
On my to do list, I have a plethora of written children story books that I often think about trying to publish one day.
As a family we love to be outdoors especially when we are fishing, hunting, hiking, and camping.
Philosophy
My teaching style and curriculum is based on a balanced approach of academic and play- using three preschool philosophies. (My favorite) The Montessori, which is based on the idea that children teach themselves through independent activities and their own experiences. The teacher prepares the environment for learning and acts as a learning guide. The Reggio Emilia, uses curriculum that is built upon interests of the children and prioritizes collaborative group work and learning using art and music. Lastly, the High Scope philosophy which uses curriculum that is carefully designated to provide a rich academic foundation and foster child creativity, confidence and independence. Children are guided and encouraged to explore, interact, and exercise creative imagination through purposeful play.
To sum it up, during your child’s time with me my focus is to inspire them to love learning! The main objective of Ms. Christa’s Little Learners is provide a rich, age appropriate learning environment that facilitates creativity, problem solving, independence, social interactions, and academics that prepares your child for kindergarten.
At Ms. Christa’s Little Learners each child is treated with love and respect. I believe that when children are engaged with their environment, magic happens.

About our program
This is more than a daycare. I strongly believe that children deserve a nurturing and enriching early learning experience. As a mother and former teacher in the WCSD, I have always been passionate about providing a solid foundation for children during their formative years. As a homeschool mother, it has become clear to me that there is a genuine need for a warm, home-like environment that combines the best aspects of both home and school to foster a LOVE of learning during these early years of childhood. At my preschool, I will teach early childhood concepts of early literacy, math, science, art, history, and geography through age appropriate, play-based, and child-led curriculum.
