Our Teachers
Hi my name is Tamika Ottih, I have been married for 8 years now and have a wonderful family. I have my Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. I have worked with children between the ages of 2-14 years old for 10 years. I have volunteered at daycares and worked at elemtary schools as a poetry coach and soccer coach, through the America Scores Program. As a poetry coach, I taught school age children rhythmn, haiku, sense, acrostic, couplet and cinquain poems. They turned those poems into creative art. The children attended poetry slam events placing 1st place, four years in a row, and 2nd place, twice. As their soccer coach, they learned to become active outdoors, building teamwork, hand eye coordination and sportsmanship through play. Working with the kids in this program helped me see how much they just wanted a safe place to learn and express themselves. I developed the teaching bug early on, and decided this was how I can help families in my community. I want children to have a space to just be themselves and grow up healthy and happy. It is my goal to bring out the best in your child and no matter their learning styles, I will prepare them to face challenges big and small with reasoning and crictial thinking.
Philosophy
In my childcare program, I believe children learn by what they see and are allowed to do, when given structure and an understanding environment, children will thrive beyond their wildest imaginations. Children love to touch things and explore, they like to interact with others like them. Being included will help children cope with social and emotional learning that will carry over into their future. I find that children express themselves through play, knowing what is best for our children will be a priority for my program. When there is a routine set for a child it develops their brain more each day to prepare them for disciplined learning in their homes and schools. It is my job to prepare your little ones for the world. I will deliver new experiences each day for your child’s cognitive skills through exploring age appropriate technological tools, which will enhance their mental development: such as games, jigsaw puzzles, etc. I will teach love, respect and reasoning skills. They will never feel like they left home when they arrive to my program, it will be a home away from home. Organization and cleanliness will help nurture the children when progressing throughout their day. They will have many age appropriate books to read, musical instruments, arts & crafts to keep their minds engaged while learning. The children will have a healthy meal with snacks, love and the space to grow and explore into avid healthy adventurers.
