Our Teachers

Jessica Gomez is our director and lead teacher. She holds her elementary school teacher certificate here in Nevada, a Bachelors in Humanities for Teaching, and a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Jessica has been working as an educator in bilingual and multilingual classrooms for over 10 years. She has taught infant/toddler, preschool, kindergarten, and all the way up to 5th grade. Early childhood education is her passion and has been her focus as a bilingual preschool teacher in 3 child development centers and a lead kindergarten teacher of 4 years here in Vegas.

Even as a child Jessica cared for children, as the oldest of 5 siblings in a single parent home. Her passion grew as she saw the impact early childhood experiences had on herself and her siblings. She nannied throughout high school and as soon as she was old enough, began as a center aide in her local migrant head start in Oregon, where she grew up. This is where she first saw the power of multilingual education.

Jessica’s teaching style and philosophy is rooted in her belief that when students are truly embraced in an appropriate early learning environment they not only develop, they thrive- now, and in their futures. As a new mama herself, she started Little Sun Learning’s Solecito School in an effort to provide this type of impactful learning environment to her own little son, as well as to his peers in our East Las Vegas community.

Philosophy

At Little Sun Learning’s Solecito school, we believe that it’s never too early to learn. Our little ones are our little suns, our solecitos, and we want only the best and brightest for them-an environment they shine and grow strong in. We are mamas and educators who value joy, trust, and growth. Our learning environment celebrates our students and provides an atmosphere for development and thriving. We embrace our students and our community- who we are, our languages, families, cultures, and unique personalities. We thrive on trust building and care- because we know how precious our little ones are-safety above everything. Growth is our focus- these first 5 years are crucial to our babies development, socially, emotionally, physically, cognitively, creatively, in language and communication. We promote appropriate child development in all we do.

Little Sun Learning’s Solecito School is bilingual Spanish/ English, embracing home languages and cultivating knowledge and appreciation of a second language. We are play based, as so many of our 1-5 year old’s development is mastered through play, and RIE inspired, because our students will learn best in an environment where they know they are safe, cared for and embraced for who they are.

Our day consists of a strong, consistent routine that provides students and families with a safe and predictable atmosphere. Within this routine we have a mixture of more and less structured play based developmental activities, daily music and movement, literacy, stem( science, technology, engineering and math), and arts. We have consistent mealtimes, snack times and nap times as well as arrival and dismissal procedures. We value strong communication with families and work with our families to provide a responsive, joyful, growth oriented learning environment for your little ones.

Location

We are located in a single family home in a quiet East Las Vegas neighborhood. Near Goldfarb Elementary, Lewis Family Park and Hollywood Recreation Center. Bus stop within 2 minutes walking.

About our program

Our program provides quality bilingual early childhood education. We have certified and experienced teachers, an emphasis on whole child well being and development, and dedication to care. We not only offer development focused, enriching childcare, we also aim to offer pop up child development classes for families in our community as we grow. Little Sun Learning celebrates our little ones and embraces these precious early childhood years as an essential time for growth and development physically, socially, emotionally, cognitively, linguistically and creatively. All that we do is focused on celebrating and uplifting our 0-5 year olds.

Open and fully licensed. One part time spot available ages 2.5+. Waitlist open for ages 0-5.
