Our Teachers
Gym Magic Kids Early Childhood Development Center teachers and administrators are bright, creative, caring adults. They are responsible for the warm, inviting environment at Gym Magic Kids Early Childhood Development Center. They function as a team, each bringing their unique talents and abilities to the Gym Magic Kids Early Childhood Development Center family. We look for credentials, love of teaching, love of children and a positive caring attitude. We have an established, multi-disciplinary system of professional development and training that supports the design, implementation, and evaluation practices that are respectful of and responsive to each child and family. We use the NM Professional Learning System to build the staff’s capacity to implement those principles while building collaboration with agencies and organizations that assist in supporting the family. Staff members have written professional development plans to meet the overall goals of our organization as set forth in our mission statement. These plans focus on continuing staff development in early childhood programs and first aid techniques. Staff members are encouraged to take steps to complete necessary annual training and are also encouraged to join appropriate associations and maintain affiliations with those associations to keep abreast of new techniques and information. Each staff member has completed the necessary background and fingerprint checks through the Department of Children, Youth, and Families. All Gym Magic Kids Early Childhood Development Center teachers are certified through the state of New Mexico with the required courses, plus CPR and 48 hours of annual additional training. Meet our staff!
Philosophy
PHILOSOPHY STATEMENT
Our philosophy focuses on nurturing and encouraging children in a positive, creative environment that allows them to explore and discover. We believe in and endorse New Mexico’s Guiding Principles for the Full Participation of Young Children which state in part: every child has unique gifts and abilities; the early years hold enormous promise to reach their full potential; every child learns within the context of relationships and play; and every child’s family deserves equitable access to appropriate services that acknowledge their uniqueness. We place a high value on the process of learning. We believe that a positive attitude about learning is one of the most valuable assets any institution can teach. We believe that preschool children are ready for physical and academic instruction that is tempered with fun, humor, and enthusiasm as each child learns in his/her own way. Our emphasis is on learning and making learning FUN. We believe movement and sensory stimulation are integral parts of learning; learning and the process of learning are intimately linked to movement. So even though our activities are fun, there is a very serious side to these movements that impact the developing brain. The hope of every parent is to have happy, successful children, and we believe we can assist in this great endeavor and that Gym Magic Kids can offer the greatest opportunity to develop sound gross motor skills to benefit the process of learning and brain development.
We believe in building relations through positive interactions and guidance which helps children develop self-esteem by actively listening, refraining from judgmental statements, responding to ideas, recognizing efforts, using proper names, supporting strength-based toilet learning, and encouraging autonomy through opportunities to make choices, good decision-making, problem solving and working together.
We believe in inclusive teaching and learning strategies with curricula and assessment designed and delivered to engage students in learning that is meaningful, relevant, and accessible to all. We commit to inclusionary practices that build on each child’s culture, language, experiences, and abilities. We believe in supporting children with disabilities by promoting participation in all learning and social activities, facilitating individualized accommodations, and using evidence-based services and supports to foster development (cognitive, language, communication, physical, behavioral, and social- emotional), friendships with peers, and sense of belonging.

About our program
MOVEMENT-BASED PREK PROGRAM At The Village, we believe that movement and active learning play a vital role in preparing children for school and life. Preschool-aged children thrive when learning is engaging, purposeful, and fun, which is why movement and hands-on experiences are intentionally integrated throughout the day.
Curriculum: Frog Street, ZooPhonics & S’Cool Moves Our PreK program uses a blended, research-based curriculum approach that includes: Frog Street Curriculum to support comprehensive early learning ZooPhonics to strengthen early literacy and phonemic awareness S’Cool Moves to promote brain-body connections through purposeful movement Grounded in New Mexico’s early childhood principles, our curriculum emphasizes relationships, collaboration, and learning through play as the foundation for school readiness and academic success.
