Our Teachers
Our staff has experience with children in the daycare setting and outside of the daycare setting that helps them provide high quality care for our children.
Mariana Saldivar, Director
Mariana graduated from New Mexico State University with her bachelor’s degree in applied studies which included two courses towards her Early Education Experience. Currently, she is attending NMSU for her Master’s` Degree in Early Childhood Education. Prior to attending college, Mariana was a babysitter for friends and family from a very young age. She is married and has 4 children who also attend the daycare center. She is developing strong relationships for herself as a professional and for her children as attendees of the daycare in their home. She believes that small class size and the development of a strong community allow her and her team to really know each child as an individual and to provide a solid and supportive foundation in the early years.
David Saldivar, Childcare Provider
David is a responsible, empathetic, and patient asset to our team. He received his Diploma in 07’ from Onate High School in Las Cruces, NM and is currently continuing his education towards his Early Childhood Education Degree. David has been a soccer coach for his son for 6 years and works closely with the families to help the players on the team accomplish their goals as individual players. His experience with outside sources helps him provide effective communication and routine to the children during his day at the daycare. David enjoys developing positive relationships with the children and their families.

Philosophy
Our daycare service offers families a learning curriculum called Beautiful Beginnings. Our planning is guided by our State of NM FOCUS program which provides childcare program personnel with the criteria, tools, & resources they need to improve the quality of their programs. These quality improvements focus on children’s growth, development and learning so that each child has an equitable opportunity to be successful when entering school. The curriculum lesson plan is based on the needs of each individual child after result findings from our questionnaires ASQ3 and ASQ:SE (Social Emotional Screening). Throughout their child’s care at our service, families will be invited to join in on family engagement activities, have access to resources, and the ability to communicate effectively with our staff. We are an all inclusive practice and hope to welcome all families and help meet their child’s needs.
Location
Our neighborhood is located off of the Roadrunner and Del Rey Area in the Parkhill Estates. We are near Highland Elementary School and Camino Real Middle School. Our program location is near a public park that we often use for our daycare. There are many ways to get to our location and we offer a staggered drop off/pick up schedule so that we can accommodate all of our families.
About our program
Chavelita’s Place is a home-like family care setting offering childcare for our community. Our goal is to provide quality childcare by providing a safe environment, high-quality curriculum, educational play-based lesson plans, and loving care for the children of our community.
