Our Teachers

I was born and raised in Columbus. I have an Associate Degree in Fashion Merchandising from LSC. My husband and I are celebrating 29 years of marriage. I have 2 grown and married children and I’m a first time Nana. I’m active with youth groups and a coordinator of JC Camp which is a faith-based camp for young adults going into high school and already in high school. I have been a childcare provider for 25 years. In June 2023 I was selected to be on the Nebraska Early Childhood Collaborative Advisory Council. I received my CDA (Child Development Associate) in June of 2022 which is the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education. In November 2022, I received the NECC Childcare Champion Award. I’m a member of NAEYC, Early Care and Education Association of Columbus and the Midwest Childcare Association. I am CPR/ First Aid certified. I accept child-care subsidy, and I take 50+ hours of professional development classes annually so I can be the best provider I can be. I am an Elevated Provider through the NECC and I’m also on the NECC Advisory Committee. I actively participate in Rooted in Relationships, Chime and Reflective Consultations. Classes I have successfully completed are Safe You (every 5 years), 7 domains of Early Learning Guidelines (required by the State of Nebraska), The Nebraska AEYC Leadership Academy, Getting Down to Business, Prepare to Care Health and Safety Training, Early Childhood Care and Education Management Training Program, Go NAP SACC Training for Childcare Providers, The Business Training Series, Special Care Training, Nebraska’s Core Competencies and I’m on Step 3 out of 5 for Step Up to Quality.

Philosophy

Our childcare facility’s philosophy revolves around a play-based approach, emphasizing the importance of fostering children’s communication skills, motor skills, social and emotional development, creativity, imagination, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. Through play, children naturally develop social and communication skills, explore their individuality, and discover their own skills and interests. Our programs prioritize teaching children how to effectively communicate and interact with others.

Furthermore, it is paramount that children are enrolled in age-appropriate programs to facilitate learning at their own pace and encourage interaction with peers. This approach promotes socialization, independent play, and successful relationships with others. Our goal is to instill routines, sharing, problem-solving, moral values, manners, and social etiquette in children, nurturing their character, integrity, compassion, and understanding.

We firmly believe that love, care, and understanding are fundamental for child development. Every child in our care is treated equally, with respect, responsibility, and an emphasis on values such as honor and virtue. Our home-like environment ensures that children feel safe, happy, and cherished. Additionally, we provide well-balanced and nutritious meals to underscore the importance of healthy eating habits.

Maintaining open and honest communication between caregivers and parents is a cornerstone of our philosophy. We welcome and encourage parents to express any questions, concerns, or suggestions promptly, fostering a collaborative relationship. Our childcare environment mirrors a home setting, focusing on play-based education, hands-on learning, and personalized care for each child. We embrace diversity and provide a family-centered atmosphere rather than a traditional classroom setting. Discrimination based on children’s needs or ethnic backgrounds is unequivocally rejected, and we have experience in caring for children with various requirements, including diabetes and special needs.

Location

My location is easy accessible. My childcare program is close to Glur Park , Columbus Middle School and several elementary schools.

About our program

What makes our program special is we are home away from home! We have a large fenced in backyard with a big play area that is covered with rubber mulch to prevent injuries with activities for all. We have many activities, games and the kids LOVE to dance and listen to music so they are always active. Children in my childcare have built life long friendships and its heartwarming when children that have been in my care just want to pop in to say hi or hang out for a bit. We truly create a bond with the children in our care.
