Our Teachers

Laney Barrett , Owner Laney is educated in Music, Education, and Early Childhood Development. She has years of experience in teaching as a Preschool Teacher, working as a full-time nanny and caregiver, and then running her own home daycare. She took some time to raise her children and homeschool them full-time before she partnered with Angela Craven to open Glowbug’s Playhouse in 2022 - which boasted an After-School Program and a Homeschool Co-op Program. In Spring 2024, Laney officially opened The Ivy Micro-School to offer more families the luxury of one-on-one education for their children. Laney’s organization skills and extensive experience and education in child development provide an advantage to this school & co-op program that can’t be found anywhere else.

Philosophy

Our philosophy embraces a play-based, multi-sensory approach to academics that sparks curiosity and love for learning. Additionally, we prioritize individualized learning through focused time and one-on-one sessions in various comfortable settings, allowing movement and fidgeting to aid focus. Our laid-back environment ensures age-appropriate curriculum tailored to each student’s needs, with flexibility to revisit tasks if needed. Group activities encompass diverse subjects, promoting holistic development through engaging activities like discussions, reading, and music.

Location

We are located inside K&S Plaza at 734 S. Magnolia Drive in Wiggins, MS. Our 8,000 square feet of open play space and classrooms are the perfect place for your family to come and hang out while you students participate in our various Homeschool Co-op Classes. Drop off is also available for our full-time, hybrid, or part-time Micro-School students.
