Sophia Hobson, Director I graduated from the University of Arizona in 2022 with an AA degree in Early Childhood Education. I have also recently just received my CDA Credentials in Preschool in 2024. I am also certified in CPR, first aid, and AED. I have been working in childcare for the past 10 years. I started as an assistant teacher, then progressed to a teacher, and eventually became a daycare center director. I have decided to branch out independently to continue providing child care and a safe learning environment with a low ratio. I am a very responsible teacher and director with expertise in early childhood education, child development, and classroom management, and an expert in the effective engagement of educational activities for children. I possess strong managerial, organizational, and communication skills to ensure good supervision and a track record of achieving exceptional outcomes in children’s mental, social, and emotional well-being.

Philosophy
Here at Smiling Faces Learning Center, we will incorporate some practices of play-based and small-group instruction by allowing children to learn through exploration, self-direction, and individualized educational experiences. Play-based learning is an educational approach that uses play as a central part of the learning process. It’s based on the idea that children learn best when actively engaged and exploring in a meaningful and enjoyable way. Small-group instruction allows teachers to observe and work with students more closely. Due to the smaller teacher-student ratio, I will have more time to evaluate strengths and challenges and provide tailored lessons to meet each student’s needs and focus on each student’s developmental domains.
Location
The in-home daycare is located in a quiet area in Pearl 39208, within an easy pathway between Hwy 468 and two minutes away from the intersection of I-20. The home has cameras on the outside and a fence in back backyard. It is pet-free and smoke-free.
About our program
To encourage the development of each child by providing comprehensive play-based education and small group instruction. Also, we cultivate independent thought and foundational skills as well as awareness of their environment by focusing on five early childhood key domains of child development: gross and fine motor, language, cognitive, and social-emotional/behavioral, in a safe home environment. Free play, arts and crafts, music, sensory play, and outside time will also be part of your child’s day-to-day in my care.
