Tameka Matthews, Director
Tameka graduated from Mississippi State University in 2011 and has been teaching special needs children for over a decade. In 2024, she realized her dream of having her own childcare program after the birth of her granddaughter.
Tameka is passionate about creating a safe and nurturing learning environment for young children. She believes that all children are capable of great things, and she is committed to helping them reach their full potential.
Her favorite thing about what she does is developing relationships with the children that she teaches and their families. She believes that small class size and the development of a strong community allow her and her team to really know each child as an individual and to provide a solid and supportive foundation in the early years.
Philosophy
At Little London’s Learning Academy, we focus on creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere where children feel comfortable exploring and learning. We use a variety of teaching methods, including hands-on activities, group projects, and individual instruction.
Our STEAM-focused early education classroom is designed as an interactive learning community. Our young scientists put on their thinking caps as they explore, discover, and have fun with friends.
And the results are in: They’re ready to enter kindergarten! Your child will master: Problem-solving, Responsive listening, Using language to learn, Social and collaborative skills, and so much more.
We look forward to working with you and your child this year.
Location
We’re located in the Golden Triangle Area. Serving all of Columbus, Macon, Brooksville, Artesia, Crawford, and Plum Grove.
About our program
At Little London’s Learning Academy, we strive to maximize each child’s early school experience. Our teachers nurture and encourage our students, developing well-rounded individuals who are equipped to succeed at the next level. We aim to enhance young minds through their academic abilities. Our studies go beyond the basics of reading, math and writing. Extended studies also include STEAM. Children are encouraged to become critical thinkers and problem solvers. As part of our mission to cultivate a welcoming community, our educators and caregivers model kindness and empathy.
