Dennis Pavlich, Director Dennis has a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration with a further emphasis in Child Development, Child Care, and Child Nutrition. In addition to being the director of BASE Camp, Dennis is also a Parents as Teacher Educator within the school district. When Dennis’s youngest child started pre-school it brought to light a lack of childcare options. Plattsburg is known as a childcare desert. Options are extremely limited. With the help of family, the Clinton County School District, a lot of determination, and a true desire to help the community, BASE Camp Plattsburg LLC was formed. Dennis has the hope of helping families in the community that found childcare in Plattsburg lacking by providing a safe place for kids to develop social skills and play. His favorite thing about what he does is developing relationships with the children that he interacts with and their families.
Beverly Harlan, Staff Bev, aka Miss Grandma, has a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. After retiring, she needed something to keep her busy in the afternoons and loves children and helping the community, so it was a perfect fit when BASE Camp Plattsburg LLC opened! She enjoys being active with the kids and hearing all about their day.
Mindy Pavlich, Staff Mindy graduated from Drake University with a Doctorate in Pharmacy. She works full-time at Walgreens but hangs out with the BASE Camp Crew as often as possible. Mindy is responsible for most of the behind-the-scenes action and ever delightful paperwork required to run a licensed daycare. Mindy’s favorite part of BASE Camp is running around with the kids and building forts and lego towers.

Philosophy
At BASE Camp Plattsburg, we are focused on giving the kids a fun, safe, active space to hang out. We encourage them to develop social skills, work with peers, and run around like kids used to do after school. A typical day starts in the cafeteria with a snack. After snack, we head to the gym, or weather permitting outside, to expend some energy and just be a kid. After some physcial activity, we encourage the kids to pick an activity. It can be more physical activity or board games, books, building blocks, and more. There is never a dull moment.
Location
We are located at Ellis Elementary School in Plattsburg, Missouri.
About our program
At our before and after-school program, we engage children in concepts of math, science, engineering, art, social sciences and early literacy through our play-based model. We use the interests and ideas of the children as a jumping off place. We invite discovery, physical activity, safety, and fun!
