Just Like Home Childcare: A Nurturing Faith-Based Environment Built on Experience Just Like Home Childcare offers high-quality, faith-based childcare founded on a passion for nurturing young children and fostering a love of learning. Our team of experienced educators provides individualized attention and support, creating a thriving environment where children flourish. We are actively working towards expanding our services to include a future academy. Shyre’ Abbey, Owner and Director: Shyre’s dedication to early childhood development is evident in her impressive career and her realization of a lifelong dream. A May 2025 graduate of John Wood Community College, she earned her Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with honors, further enhanced by certifications in Infant and Toddler Child Development Associate, Infant/Toddler/Adult CPR and First Aid, and a Gateway Credential 3. Her over five years of experience includes volunteer work, teaching assistant roles, lead teaching positions, and successfully running a family childcare home alongside her grandmother, Phyllis (the inspiration behind “Just Like Home”). Shyre also played a crucial role in licensing and opening a struggling daycare, serving as its Director and developing its policies and operational procedures. Her experience encompasses both the classroom and the administrative/regulatory aspects of childcare, allowing her to provide comprehensive leadership. Shyre’s faith is integral to her approach, shaping the faith-based programming at Just Like Home. Her greatest reward is building strong relationships with children and witnessing their growth.

Philosophy

Just Like Home, centers on a Christ-centered, play-based approach to early childhood learning. I believe children thrive when their interests drive their learning, developing essential skills like problem-solving and social interaction through guided play. This fosters creativity, resilience, and compassion, preparing them not only for school but also for a life of contributing positively to society. My role is to be a supportive facilitator, nurturing each child’s unique potential within a hands-on, loving environment.

Location

Our program is nestled in a vibrant and convenient neighborhood, offering a fantastic environment for your child to learn and grow. We’re located near a wealth of resources that make daily life easier and more enriching. Right around the corner, you’ll find a valuable community resource center providing food and clothing assistance, a testament to the supportive nature of our area. Just a three-minute drive away, the majestic Mississippi River offers stunning views and recreational opportunities – a beautiful connection to the area’s rich history, as Mark Twain himself grew up nearby. This historical context adds a unique charm to our community. For everyday convenience, we have stores right at our doorstep, and a gym, police station, and post office are all within easy reach. This ensures a safe and accessible environment for families.
