About our program

At Northwoods Forest School, we embrace a Scandinavian-inspired approach to education, where simplicity, nature, and family connection are at the heart of everything we do. Our program allows children to be as self-directed as possible, offering thoughtful guidance to help them conquer tasks, build confidence, and foster independence.

Balancing academic enrichment with hands-on, creative opportunities, we nurture the whole child—mind, body, and spirit. Students at Northwoods explore the natural world through all of Minnesota’s seasons, gaining practical skills, developing their interests, taking calculated risks, and building a deep connection with nature.

Our Waldorf-inspired blocks weave together academics, creativity, and exploration. These lessons feed the heart, engage the creative mind, and support artistic potential, while aligning with Minnesota’s homeschooling requirements.

At Northwoods, we value family above all. Our homeschool support services and parent-child opportunities are designed to strengthen family bonds and foster a shared love of learning. Together, we aim to grow closer, celebrate nature, and nurture lifelong curiosity.

Join us to experience the beauty of forest learning, the rhythm of the seasons, and the joy of education inspired by the natural world.
