Philosophy

At Cooperation Station, we believe in cultivating the imaginations of young children through providing opportunities to be creative, take risks, and connect with nature. We are a nature playschool with monthly themes to foster a connection between the world they discover around them each day and early learning benchmarks to spark interest and curiosity. We focus on growing character strengths such as kindness and resilience through practicing gratitude, teamwork, and self-regulation. And we foster a strong community both among the children, families, providers and volunteers of Cooperation Station and beyond.

About our program

At Cooperation Station, we believe in cultivating the imaginations of young children through providing opportunities to be creative, take risks, and connect with nature. We are a nature playschool with monthly themes to foster a connection between the world they discover around them each day and early learning benchmarks to spark interest and curiosity. We focus on growing character strengths such as kindness and resilience through practicing gratitude, teamwork, and self-regulation. And we foster a strong community both among the children, families, providers and volunteers of Cooperation Station and beyond.

Cooperation Station opened on September 1, 1999. It is the result of a group of parents and community members working together to develop a unique model for quality and consistent childcare in Grand Marais. Cooperation Station is licensed as a Family Day Care home. It is unique in that it is not in the home of a single caregiver, but in a home that is owned by the Corporation. Cooperation Station is a not-for-profit 501c3 corporation. Parents and community members serve on the Board of Directors to carry out our mission and values.
